Updating imac firmware
So, until ATMEL release a Mac version of the updater, Godox’s hands are tied.
If this all seems like a whole lot of work and effort, my suggestion to Mac users is to just buy an inexpensive Windows 2-in-1 dedicated to updating firmware and other menial tasks.
The Godox app is just a reskinned version of the ATMEL updater app.
ATMEL is the company who develops the bootloader chip inside the Godox kit and they only have a Windows version of the software.
The overview of upgrading your firmware is to download the Firmware utility, download the firmware, run the upgrade, and finally check that it all worked out.
The update can take some time but do not unplug, shutdown, restart or disturb you mac Pro while the update takes place. We may earn a commission for purchases using our links.
Updating your firmware could give you added benefits such as the ability to install faster processors, faster memory, and newer mac OS versions. If you Mac Pro was installed to boot into 32-bit mode for 32-bit drivers for some hardware then this will make that hardware unusable as it defaults into 64-bit mode.
Note that upgrading your firmware could result in a dead system if performed incorrectly.
the porblem is that I have erased and formatted the disk to APFS... will now try directly updating to Mojave from app store and [email protected]/u/bacongalaxy will try the combo update if it doesn't work.I ran First Aid on my drive and everything checked out.
